Citizens were temporarily displaced following a fire in a home on Fairview Drive Sunday afternoon.
According to the Hopkinsville Fire Department, firefighters responded to Fairview Drive around 4 p.m. for reports of a fire that had started in the kitchen of a home in the 400 block. Thanks to quick thinking residents and a neighbor with a handheld extinguisher, they were able to get the blaze mostly extinguished and prevent more significant damage to the home.
Firefighters carefully examined the extension within the kitchen and overhauled the area to be sure the fire was out. The occupants were temporarily displaced.
There were no reports of any injuries.
