The Christian County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fiery, single-vehicle crash on I-24 near the Kentucky-Tennessee state line that killed one person.
According to a news release, the crash happened near the Welcome Center around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and when deputies arrived, they discovered a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames. Investigation determined that the vehicle had been driving erratically before the crash and lost control, ending in an embankment.
A passerby who witnessed the wreck was able to pull the victim, identified as 24-year-old Tyshawn Banks of Tennessee, from the vehicle as it was beginning to catch fire.
Banks would succumb to injuries sustained in the wreck, and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Christian County Coroner’s Office.
