After remaining mostly consistent from June to July, regional preliminary unemployment rates for August have seen a slight decrease along with the statewide rate according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
For the state unemployment rates have dropped from 4.6% in July to 4.3% in August and for the Pennyrile region unemployment rates have dropped from 5.1% in July to 4.7% in August.
Closer to home unemployment rates have also seen slight monthly decreases in Christian, Todd and Trigg counties. Christian County dropped from 5.6% to 5.1% in August, Todd County dropped from 4.1% to 3.7% and Trigg County dropped from 4.9% to 4.3%.
Despite the decrease, unemployment rates are still up across the state in comparison to the rates recorded from August 2022.
