The 36th annual Pennyrile Senior Games kicked off with pickleball matches at the Hopkinsville Sportsplex on Monday morning.
Despite the Senior Games already being underway, Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator Pam Rudd says those interested still have a chance to register for the Senior Games on Tuesday. As of Monday, Rudd says their numbers are up from last year with 206 participants registered.
Rudd says the Senior Games started after Parks and Recreation participated in the state senior games, and since then they have hosted local games for the community.
Following pickleball, on Monday participants will go head-to-head in bowling and disc golf, and Tuesday kicks off with registration and check in at 7 a.m. and their opening ceremony at 8:15 a.m.
After opening ceremonies participants will compete in corn tosses, softball throws, bingo and many other events. The Senior Games will conclude on Wednesday with croquet, shuffleboard, lawn bowling and ring toss.
