The work begins to raise enough money to fund the 18 partner agencies of the United Way of the Pennyrile, as a campaign kick-off event brought music, sunglasses, and an explanation of the mission to the Senior Citizens’ Center Thursday morning.
The campaign co-chairs for this year’s campaign—Cody Noffsinger and Chris Jung—says they’re on a mission to get the funds raised to support the partner agencies that have such a huge impact on the communities of Christian, Todd, Trigg and Caldwell counties. Noffsinger says the United Way of the Pennyrile is a powerhouse when it comes to supporting those agencies that are so vitally important to the people who need them.
Jung says Hopkinsville and surrounding communities have prove time and time again that their spirit of giving cannot be beat, and he knows they’ll rise to the occasion this time as well.
After hearing from campaign cabinet representatives that highlighted how their pacesetter campaigns are going so far—including several that have higher than average totals for just the start of the campaign—they announced their fundraising goal of $700,000.
They’re off to a strong start to reach that goal, with approximately $216,000 already in the briefcase. Anyone interested in donating to the cause, volunteering with the United Way or just looking to see who the partner agencies are and what they do, can contact the United Way of the Pennyrile on Facebook or call them at (270) 886-8171.
