A couple of longtime City of Hopkinsville employees have received promotions within the Public Works Department, including the appointment of Josh Durham to serve as superintendent.
According to a news release, Durham steps into that role after working for the City of Hopkinsville in some capacity since 2004, including with the sanitation department and the service department. He fills the role previously held by Dave Herndon, who is looking at his own promotion to Assistant Director of Public Works.
Herndon will be the first person to ever hold the newly created position, working directly with Director Mike Perry. Before serving the last seven years with the street department, including as street superintendent, Herndon spent 15 years with Community Development services.
Herndon says, “I’m honored that our Public Works director has faith in my abilities to start this new position. I have been working to make this community a better place for the past 22 years, and hope to continue to do so in the years to come.”
