The Christian County Early Literacy Council is bringing the competitive heat to the Performing Arts Center at Christian County Middle School on September 26 as their Spelling Bee takes over the stage.
Before that though, there is still just a little bit of time left for students in grades 3 through 8 to sign up to take part, and Beth Brockman with the Literacy Council says they have nearly 50 students registered already, and they’re looking even more to compete for prizes and, of course, spelling bragging rights.
The deadline to register is September 15 and the best way to do that is by clicking the link on the Christian County Early Literacy Council Facebook page. Brockman says they follow the standard rules of spelling bees, but with more accessible words for students, who always seem to have a blast.
Brockman says they strive for early literacy, and this spelling bee is just one of the many ways they want to encourage early learning in the community.
It is free to sign-up and open to any child in those grades that goes to school in Christian County, including home schools. For more information, contact the Early Literacy Council at 270-348-8185.
