Man charged with arson in Madisonville structure fire

The Madisonville Police Department has arrested and charged a Madisonville man with arson following investigation into a structure fire Saturday. 

According to a news release, the Madisonville Fire Department and Madisonville police responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Nisbet Street around 3 p.m. on Saturday. Through investigation while battling the blaze, it was determined the fire had been set intentionally.

Further investigation reportedly revealed that 36-year-old Michael Phebus of Madisonville had set the fire using a lighter and 100 proof vodka.

Phebus was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Jail on a charge of second-degree arson.  No one was injured in the incident.
