Christian Fiscal Court approved several matters on Tuesday’s meeting agenda, including lowering the speed limit of Stone Quarry Road and making the new animal shelter director official.
After serving as interim for the past several weeks, magistrates approved a recommendation from Christian County Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam to make Melissa Goff the official director of the Christian County Regional Animal Shelter, removing her interim tag.
A petition from citizens on Stone Quarry Road to lower the speed limit to 45 miles per hour was approved by magistrates, with Magistrate George Barnett saying the residents there wanted that limit lowered for safety reasons and due to a good amount of traffic.
Then, magistrates approved appointments of magistrates Russ Guffey and Phillip Peterson to serve on the Christian County Industrial Development Authority. Judge-Executive Gilliam says this board has been inactive for some time, but they’re working to get it up and going again so it can be utilized for economic development efforts.
A Crime Stoppers Affiliation Agreement was renewed and approved unanimously, with County Attorney Lincoln Foster clarifying that it helps funds the local Crime Stoppers initiative.
In other action, magistrates approved a resolution accepting the Davis Road Extension into the county—from there, CSX can move forward in removing an old bridge structure on that road that was deemed unsafe.
