A Hopkinsville man is facing several charges after he allegedly fled from police after giving them a false name early Monday morning.
According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers observed 19-year-old Kaed’n Kavanagh of Hopkinsville allegedly skateboarding down the middle of East Ninth Street between Campbell Street and South Virigina Street. Officers stopped him and explained the safety issues, and when asked for his name, Kavanagh allegedly gave a false name twice, including after being warned about the consequences of giving a false identity.
When they went to detain him, Kavanagh allegedly fled on foot through parking lots, before he was eventually caught trying to hide under a semi-truck on South Virgina Street.
After some further resistance, Kavanagh was taken into custody.
He was charged with hitchhiking/disregarding a traffic regulation by a pedestrian, giving officer false identifying information, second-degree fleeing or evading police and resisting arrest. He was also additionally served with warrants out of Florida.
