Clarksville PD: Man stole ambulance, led officers on I-24 pursuit

A Clarksville man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly stole an ambulance from Tennova Health Hospital Friday and took it on a pursuit as he fled from officers.

Thirty-six-year old Charles Green of Clarksville is alleged to have taken the ambulance from where it was stopped at Tennova, according to the Clarksville Police Department. When officers attempted to stop him, he reportedly fled in the ambulance onto I-24, where the pursuit continued to about the five mile marker.

Green allegedly rammed a police cruiser, disabling both the officer’s car and the ambulance. He was taken into custody without further incident and was medically cleared at Tennova. No one was injured in the incident.

He is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, evading arrest and aggravated assault.
