UHA Volleyball Player Sarah Peebles wins Player of the Week award

This week’s Jennie Stuart Health-Michael Venable State Farm Player of the Week is Sarah Peebles.

Sarah is a senior volleyball player at University Heights Academy.

She plays setter for the Lady Blazers and has come up with big numbers in the assists category with 270 this season while also managing an impressive amount of service aces leading her team with 28.

While out on her UHA senior trip to Washington D.C., WHOP had the pleasure of calling her on her downtime for an interview.

While on the call, she explained her surprised reaction and satisfaction to finding out about the award.

Peebles has been playing volleyball for seven years now, and says watching her former babysitter and sister play the sport was a big motivator.

As a senior, Peebles explained that she feels her leadership on the court is one of the things that she has improved for this season.

As the team’s setter, Sarah is responsible for most of her teammates kills on the court via assists. A “quarterback” is how she described her position in the game and Sarah gets just as excited for her teammates during those big plays, similar to the way a quarterback gazes at his receiver in the endzone.

When asked about team goals, Peebles said that the team is going for an undefeated record against region opponents, and that they want to be the first UHA team to make an appearance in the state tournament.

UHA currently holds a 12-1 record with a nine-game winning streak with one of those wins being the 2nd Region All “A” Classic championship.

With the UHA senior trip, the Lady Blazers have been on a break of action with their last game being August 26th, but they will hit court again on the road September 5th, against Madisonville-North Hopkins.
