Community invited to pack the stands at Friday’s rivalry high school football game

With the goal of packing the stands, Christian County High School Principal, Kevin Crider appeared on WHOP to invite the community to the celebrate their 57th rivalry football game against the Hopkinsville Tigers.

Crider says this Friday’s game at the Stadium of Champions serves to celebrate the alumni of both schools as well as their current students.

Before the games kicks off at 7 p.m., alumni of both schools are invited to set up tailgates near the end zones at 5 p.m. and Crider says they will have food, old school tailgating tents and bleachers to watch the game from the field.

Along with tailgating, Crider says notable local football alumni are set to be in attendance. Former Christian County Colonel head coach and KHSAA Hall of Fame member Dan Goble will present the game ball and both teams will have honorary captains who are alumni and former state championship players.

Current Christian County students have also made a special coin for the coin toss to determine how Friday’s game will start. Crider says it’s similar to a Superbowl coin with both sides of the coin having the logos of the playing teams.

For tomorrow, the alumni tailgate will start at 5 p.m., stadium gates open to the general public at 6 p.m. and the kick off will be at 7 p.m.
