Rotarians were updated on county community and governmental matters by Christian County Chamber of Commerce President, Taylor Hayes at Tuesday’s Hopkinsville Rotary Club meeting.
Hayes highlighted community events for the rest August through October. For the latter half of August, Hayes spoke about the 20-year anniversary celebration set for the James E. Bruce Convention Center on August 22 and the Chamber of Commerce’s Eye Opener Breakfast set for August 29.
For September Hays spoke about the Professional Luncheon on September 8 at the Bruce Center, Kentuckian Alyson Van Hooser from leadership development company Van Hooser Associates, Inc. will be the keynote speaker talking about multi-generational leadership.
Lastly, for October Hayes highlighted Slay the Clay a marksmen competition set for October 5 and the Hopkinsville-Christian County Human Rights Commission’s Unity Breakfast set for October 26.
A Chamber update was also presented to Rotarians regarding new staff at the Chamber of Commerce. Hayes introduced Michael McCoy the Director of Events and Marketing who was recently brought on board.
Along with highlighting new and departing staff Hayes talked about a new objective set for the Chamber of Commerce to work closer with county schools to support high school graduates as they join the workforce in their Workforce Education Development sector.
Hayes also dived into the Chamber of Commerce’s government affairs advocacy matters to give members a platform to voice their beliefs and concerns. Rotarians were presented with a QR code for the 2023 Legislative Agenda Survey.
The survey serves to inform the Chamber of Commerce of what issues concerning the region are important to their members to help them form an advocacy platform. The deadline for the survey is September 1.
