Muhlenberg Co. receives $3.1 million in funding for water, tourism, law enforcement

Muhlenberg County has received roughly $3.1 million in grant funding to benefit water, infrastructure, tourism and more following a visit from Governor Andy Beshear Friday.

According to a news release, $96,000 was presented to support travel marketing and promotion in Muhlenberg County, split between the Greenville Tourism Commission, the Muhlenberg County Tourism C omission and the Central City Tourist and Convention Commission.

Approximately $1.8 million in funding was provided through the Cleaner Water Program, going to the Central City Municipal Water & Sewer System, the City of Drakesboro, the Greenville Utilities Commission, the Muhlenberg County Water District, and the City of Powderly.

Roughly $32,300 was presented to Muhlenberg County Fiscal Court from the Law Enforcement Protection Program and nearly $150,000 in funding went to three Muhlenberg County nonprofits from the Team Kentucky Nonprofit Assistance Fund.

Those agencies are the Muhlenberg County Opportunity Center, Pathway of Hope, Inc. and St. Joseph’s Parish of Central City.
