The man charged in connection with a shooting incident on Petsch Lane in June was arraigned in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning.
Jeffrey Proffitt is charged with first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and his attorney entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf during arraignment.
As previously reported, Proffitt is accused of shooting a female victim in the leg at a residence on Petsch Lane on June 24. She had to be flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
Investigation determined that the victim and Proffitt had reportedly been in an argument when he retrieved a handgun and brandished it while they were arguing. The gun went off, striking the victim.
