Christian County Public Schools welcomed back students Wednesday morning as the new school year officially gets underway.
Schools across the county saw buses roll in bright and early, and kids who have spent the summer relaxing entered their buildings ready to learn and tackle the upcoming year. That includes at Sinking Fork Elementary School, with Principal Lacey Ramirez saying they were excited to see their students, most of who had smiling faces and an eagerness to come back to school.
She says they continue to keep moving forward this year, keeping up a tradition of excellence at Sinking Fork Elementary.
Speaking to her students, Ramirez says they’re the reason she’s proud to be a Panther.
While things went smoothly at Sinking Fork and other CCPS schools Wednesday, that was not quite the case at Pembroke Elementary, which had to contend with delays and traffic congestion caused by an overturned semi-truck right in front of the school on Kentucky 115. No one was injured, but it did block the road way for several hours.
Todd County Schools also went back in school Wednesday morning, so motorists in both counties are urged to be aware of buses and kids near the roadway, and to slow down in school zones.
