A new date for an evidentiary hearing was scheduled in Christian Circuit Court Tuesday, in relation to the 2006 murder case against two women.
An evidentiary hearing had been set to take place Tuesday morning, but due to certain witnesses being unable to take part in the hearing, Judge Andrew Self felt it necessary to set a new date for the hearing. The evidentiary hearing is to discuss evidence that was presented to the grand jury that resulted in the indictments for murder and first-degree robbery against Lashana Person and Annastaja Hathaway.
Defense attorneys contend that false information was provided to the grand jury that resulted in the indictment, and will likely subpoena the previous commonwealth’s attorney to take part in the hearing.
Judge Self says it is his intention to have all presenting witnesses available for questioning to make sure all information and context is shared.
Defense attorney Doug Moore represents Lashanda Person and made a motion for her to be released from her ankle monitor, which the judge said he would take under advisement.
A hearing was set for Tuesday, August 15. Person and Hathaway are both charged in the 2006 death of Roscoe Mayes on Greenville Road. The charges against a third suspect, Regina Vause, have already been dismissed in this case.
