With the kick off to the football season approaching the Hopkinsville Rotary club donated $15,000 to Hopkinsville’s Bud Hudson Youth Football League.
Rotary Club President, Brandon Killebrew spoke about the grant on WHOP and says the decision for the Club to give the grant came after a meeting in June which spotlighted the Bud Hudson Football League.
Hopkinsville High School Football Coach Marc Clark and Christian County High School Football Coach Zachary Self spoke to Rotarians about their plans to revamp the League.
Following the meeting, Killebrew says the Rotary Club Board came together to help make the League’s revamp possible.
Killebrew says the grant came right before equipment was set to be ordered for members of the League.
Coaches Clark and Self appeared again at a Club meeting on August 1 to highlight their respective football teams. During this meeting Clark and Self presented the Club with a Bud Hudson League helmet, to thank them for the grant.
Killebrew says grants of this magnitude would not be possible without the participation of the community in Club auctions.
According to the Hopkinsville Rotary Club Facebook the $15,000 grant will help 129 members of the Bud Hudson League prepare for this year’s football season.
