Academy set to educate citizens on law enforcement procedures

To share their day-to-day course of action with citizens, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office will host the Citizen’s Sheriff Academy.

The academy will start on September 19 and go through October 5, with classes being on every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.

Students of the academy are set to be educated on law enforcement procedures such as traffic stops, equipment handling, court proceedings, investigation strategies and more.

Applications are available at christiancountyso.com/citizens-police-academy/ for download or they can be picked up from the Sheriff’s Office at 701 West 7th St. Applications will need to be hand delivered to the Sheriff’s Office by August 28.

The academy is free of charge and has 20 available first-come, first-serve spots. Applicants must be Christian County residents, at least 18 years old and go through a background check.
