Owensboro man facing charges in Cox Mill Road incident

An Owensboro man is facing several charges following on incident at Fairfax Avenue and Cox Mill Road Thursday afternoon.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, 40-year-old Anthony Stewart of Owensboro was involved in a vehicular accident around 2:15 p.m. and allegedly refused to identify himself to officers.  He allegedly fled on foot, hiding behind houses on Cox Mill Road.

He was located and taken into custody, where he would reportedly continue to resist arrest, screaming and struggling on the ground.  The report states he appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic and was taken to Jenni Stuart for medical clearance.

Stewart is charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He was additionally served with a warrant for fourth-degree assault out of Daviess County.
