Defense bill passes U.S. Senate, includes funding for Fort Campbell

A Defense Bill has passed the United States Senate and Fort Campbell is set to receive a good portion of funding from the bill for construction for several projects.

According to a news release, the National Defense Authorization Act includes language to provide $38 million for a multipurpose training range at Fort Campbell and $2.5 million to plan and design a new air traffic control tower for Fort Campbell.

It also includes a 5.2 percent pay raise for service members, the highest pay raise in 22 years to offset inflation. It also authorizes quality improvements for military enlisted barracks, including the replacement of barracks that do not meet basic standards.
