Military activity to increase in the area for training exercise that begins Monday

Expect increased military activity in the region as soldiers undergo training exercises at Fort Campbell for the next few weeks.

According to a news release, a three-week division wide training exercise known as Operation Lethal Eagle III will begin Monday and continue through August 21. The pre-planned training is an exercise to build Soldier and unit lethality within the air assault division.

Residents in parts of Kentucky and Tennessee can expect more military vehicles on the road and helicopters in the sky as part of the exercise, along with an increase of noise. Folks in Hopkinsville can expect increased helicopter traffic, as they utilize the Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport as a refuel point.

You can also expect convoys of military vehicles on the roadways between Fort Campbell and Fort Knox in that same time frame.
