(Wellington, New Zealand) — Lindsey Horan netted a crucial goal in the 62nd minute to help the United States pull even with Netherlands in a 1-1 draw in Group play at the Women’s World Cup. The Dutch put the pressure on the defending World Cup champions when Jill Roord scored in the 17th minute. Horan’s fourth career World Cup goal pulled the game even to stretch the U.S. Women’s National Team’s unbeaten streak to 19 matches. The United States and Netherlands sit atop the Group E standings with one group match remaining. The USWNT returns to action against Portugal on Tuesday at Eden Park in Auckland.

(Boulder, CO) — Colorado is considering a move to a new conference. ESPN reports the school is discussing the future of athletics in a university board of trustees meeting. The school is mulling a move to the Big 12, and the meeting will help put a plan into action if officials approve a transfer. The Big 12’s presidents and chancellors voted unanimously to accept Colorado as a new member on Wednesday during a conference call. The Buffaloes still need to formally apply for Big 12 membership.

(Blaine, MN) — Tony Finau will be looking to defend his crown at this week’s 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine. Finau finished atop the leaderboard at 17 under par in last year’s tournament. The 33-year-old will be alongside Hideki Matsuyama and Sepp Straka during the opening round. After winning The Open Championship last week Brian Harman will not be participating in this week’s tournament. Kramer Hickok, Jimmy Walker and Kelly Kraft will be among the first group of golfers teeing off the first round.

(Undated) — The Sounds won their minor league baseball matchup while the Redbirds and Bats lost theirs. Nashville plated three runs in the fifth inning to edge Norfolk 5-3 in seven innings. Nashville is now 53-and-43. Memphis gave up four runs in the sixth inning and fell to Iowa 10-7. The Redbirds are now 49-and-49. Louisville imploded and surrendered five runs over the final two frames in a 6-5, walk-off defeat against Indianapolis. The Bats fell to 51-and-45. All three teams are back in action today for game three of the six-game sets.

(Louisville, KY) — Louisville football is adding a pair of non-conference opponents to its 2026 schedule. The Cardinals welcome Villanova to L-and-M Stadium on September 5th, 2026, in what is likely to be the season opener. Both sides have never met on the gridiron before. Charlotte will also visit Louisville later that month. The Cards and 49ers have played each other just one time. Louisville blew out Charlotte 70-14 back in 2016 when Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson was quarterbacking the team.
