The Hopkinsville-Christian County Boys and Girls Club spotlighted the role they play in the community and their plans to further their work at Wednesday’s Great Futures Luncheon.
The annual Great Futures Luncheon serves to invite community members to get a glimpse of what role the Boys and Girls Club plays in the lives of its members. Boys and Girls Club Board Chair, Tera Bloecher says the Boys and Girls Club has the ability to have multiple impacts on its members.
Further talking about the role Boys and Girls Club plays in the community, 15-year-old member Paiton Nielsen spoke about her upbringing and why Boys and Girls Club is important to her.
Hopkinsville-Christian County Boys and Girls Club Executive Director, Terrance Davis announced plans for the expansion of the Club’s Teen Center to create the FabLab, which will serve to give members career and technical skills applicable in today’s workforce.
The FabLab is set to feature an open work area, recording studio, photography studio, 3D printer, laser cutter, screen printer, podcast area, content creation studio and a video production suite.
The Teen Center expansion will also allow for them to reevaluate how the rest of the Teen Center is being used, Davis says. The current game room will be turned into a teen coffee shop and the current STEAM lab will be turned into an E-sports arena.
The Club is aiming to complete the FabLab by May 2024.
