A Heat Advisory goes into effect for all of western Kentucky Thursday morning and stays around through early Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service in Paducah says that heat index values could reach up to 105 degrees, and that along with high humidity, will make heat related illnesses more possible for all people. The elderly and young children are more likely to experience heat complications, so make sure to check up on your neighbors, especially those without reliable access to air conditioning.
Be sure to dry plenty of water, wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and take frequent breaks in air-conditioning, especially if you work or spend time outdoors. Outdoor animals should have constant access to shade and fresh water, and never leave a pet or child unattended in a vehicle, as temperatures inside can become deadly within minutes.
