A woman whose remains were discovered in 1985 in Cheatham County has been identified and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is putting out the call for help in locating her killer.
According to a news release, skeletal remains were discovered in 1985 near a creek bank by a motorist who was having vehicle trouble along I-24 west in Cheatham County between mile markers 29 and 30. An extensive investigation began—it was determined the woman had been deceased for two to five months before her body was discovered and it was determined to be a homicide. At the time, she was unable to be identified and she was classified as a Jane Doe.
In April of 2018, the University of Tennessee Forensic Anthropology Center submitted a sample to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification, where a profile was developed in hopes she would eventually be identified. In December, the TBI submitted a sample of the remains to Othram, Inc. a private lab based in Taxes.
Earlier in July, Othram, Inc. positively identified the woman as Michelle Lavone Inman of Nashville.
TBI special agents are now hoping the public can help provide information that may help solve her murder. Anyone with information on the homicide, or any knowledge about individuals Michelle Inman may have been with before her death, are asked to call 1-800-TBI-FIND.
