From Hopkinsville to Hogwarts, the James E. Bruce Convention Center will be transformed into a scene stripped from the page of a Harry Potter novel to celebrate Potter’s birthday on July 31.
The Bruce Convention Center has partnered with the Christian County Literacy Council to host the Happy Potter Experience, celebrating the character’s birthday. Bruce Center General Manager, Kaleigh Stout says doors will open at 4:45 p.m. and goers will be able to dive into Harry Potter themes activities.
At 6 p.m. the doors will open for dinner. Stout says the dinner is inspired by the grandeur of Hogwarts’ Great Hall feasts.
Along with activities prior to the feast Stout says there will be a costume competition and the opportunity for guests to make their own potions with a professor from Hopkinsville Community College.
Child tickets are for those five to 12 years old and will cost $20. Adult tickets are for those 13 and older and will cost $35 and come with a free drink ticket to their Leaky Cauldron, a popular wizard pub in the book series. Stout says some of the proceeds will go toward the Christian County Literacy Council which focuses on promoting literacy with community facing reading and writing activities.
Tickets to the celebration are available at eventbrite.com.
Later in August a celebration will be held to commemorate the 20 years the Bruce Center has been a part of the Hopkinsville community. To stay up to date on Bruce events visit their Facebook at The Bruce.
