The Southwestern Kentucky Economic Development Council is looking to launch a new workforce web page, while reflecting on the growth and progress in the region.
Executive Director Carter Hendricks appeared on WHOP Friday morning and says the WorkSWK webpage is still a work in progress, but people should be able to quickly locate what industries are hiring in the region and apply for employment.
It’s all in the name of making sure local residents have a chance to get in the door for good paying, high quality jobs and local industries, both new and established. He says a recent report from the Tennessee Valley Authority shows that wages are on the rise in Christian County, and that’s reflected in record high pay roll tax collection in Hopkinsville.
Hendricks says the EDC has managed to secure roughly $3 million in grant funding in the last few years—thanks to the hard work of Executive Assistant Sharon Butts—as that funding goes right into increasing economic development.
Hendricks says work continues on the preparation for Ascend Elements and Toyota Bushoku, and they continue to advocate for improvements to KY 115 and I-24 to accommodate for increased traffic in those areas.
