A possible resolution is still in the works for Tyquarius Stubbs, a local man charged with attempted fetal homicide.
Stubbs appeared alongside public defender Eric Bearden, who informed Judge John Atkins that they continue negotiate with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office on a resolution to this case.
He requested a small one-week continuance, and the judge set a pretrial conference for July 19.
Stubbs is accused of assaulting a pregnant woman in August of 2022, allegedly using the buckle of a belt to strike the woman, in addition to punching and kicking her numerous times. He also allegedly used his hands to strangle the victim and put a table in front the door when she tried to leave, threatening to kill her if she called police.
Stubbs is charged with attempted fetal homicide, first-degree strangulation, assault in the second-degree, intimidating a participant in a legal process and unlawful imprisonment.
