There will be a public hearing on the proposed District Facility Plan for the Christian County School District, where community members can voice their thoughts and concerns on the plan.
According to a public notice, the hearing will take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Christian County Board of Education and those wanting to comment on the plan can present written or verbal comments. The plan sets the path for changes to the school system that would start in the 2024-2025 school year, and includes putting sixth grade back into the middle schools, moving it from elementary.
It moves Indian Hills Elementary School—both staff and students—to the existing Hopkinsville Middle School facility, while the staff and students of HMS would move to the current Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary building.
After this hearing, the District Facility Plan heads to the Kentucky Department of Education for final approval.
