>>MLB Announces Complete All-Star Rosters

 

(Seattle, WA)  —   Major League Baseball is releasing the rest of this year’s All-Stars.  The Atlanta Braves lead all teams in baseball with eight players selected to the National League team.  The Texas Rangers pace the American League with six players named.  Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw was named to his 10th All-Star game and headlines the NL pitching squad.  On the AL side, New York Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole earned his sixth All-Star nod.  The 2023 MLB All-Star game is slated for July 11th at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

 

>>Pirates’ Bryan Reynolds Activated From IL

 

(Pittsburgh, PA)  — The Pittsburgh Pirates are getting an important bat back in their lineup.  The team announced Bryan Reynolds has been activated from the injured list.  The outfielder was sidelined on June 19th due to a back injury.  The 28-year-old is hitting .275 with eight home runs and 40 RBI this season.  He went 0-for-4 in his return with the Bucs, who lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 6-3 in Pittsburgh on Sunday.  Meanwhile, infielder Ji-Hwan Bae was placed on the 10-day injured list due to an ankle sprain.

 

>>Cardinals Stifle Yankees For Series Win

 

(St. Louis, MO)  — The Cardinals stifled the Yankees in a 5-1, series-clinching victory from St. Louis.  Jordan Montgomery got the win after surrendering just one unearned run on two hits while striking out six batters over six-and-two-thirds innings.  The bullpen allowed just one more hit for the rest of the game.  Brendan Donovan went three-for-four with a two-run homer, while Jordan Walker and Andrew Knizner each drove in a run.  The Cards took two-of-three in the series and are last in the NL Central with a 35-and-48 record.  Miles Mikolas takes the mound for St. Louis against the Marlins tonight.

 

>>Reds Edge Padres For Series Win

 

(Cincinnati, OH)  — The Reds edged the Padres 4-3 to win their series from Cincinnati.  Tyler Stephenson smashed a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning while Alexis Diaz earned his 23rd save of the season in the ninth.  Diaz was also named to the All-Star game yesterday.  Cincinnati is tied with the Brewers for first in the NL Central at 45-and-39.  The team opens a three-game set against the Nationals in DC tonight.
