The Christian County Board of Elections will consider the number of voting centers in the county at the next meeting set for July 20.
At a recent meeting, the board discussed the data from the last two elections and compared the numbers from low traffic centers and high traffic centers. That’s according to Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries, who says they anticipate a motion to be made to either reduce the number of voting centers, or keep the current 16 centers.
Humphries says they’re considering factors such as distance between locations, accessibility to voters and ADA compliance—she says you also have to consider the number of voting machines needed to each location, and poll workers.
The Christian County elections system also recently underwent an extensive audit process, and Humphries says they’ve received a good report and all they’re waiting on at this point is the certification letter.
