The second-degree assault charge against Ronald Young has been dismissed as the Commonwealth does further investigation into the case.
In Christian Circuit Court Monday morning, Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen says they have been able to make contact with the victim in this case, but they’re still working to gather the medical reports.
Judge Andrew Self granted the motion to dismiss without prejudice, telling Young that the Commonwealth can still re-indict him in this case—and that a motion to revoke his probation has been withdrawn.
A warrant alleges on July 26, 2022, Young caused serious injury to Herbert Wharton by striking him several times on the head, causing injuries that required surgery.
Later that morning, Wharton allegedly confronted Young and shot him in the hand and shot 65-year old Kathy Jackson in the leg with a rifle during an incident on a lot between East Third and Fourth Street.
