(London) — The top tennis players in the world are meeting on the grass courts at Wimbledon. Carlos Alcaraz is the top-seed in the men’s draw, just ahead of four-time defending champion Novak Djokovic. Daniil Medvedev and Casper Ruud round out the top-four seeds. Nick Kyrgios announced just ahead of the tournament that he would be withdrawing from it due to a wrist injury. On the women’s side, defending Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina is the third seed in the draw. She sits behind second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka and top-seeded Iga Swiatek.

(London) — Five-time Wimbledon singles champion Venus Williams will be back on Centre Court when the world’s oldest, and most prestigious tournament begins on Monday. It’s been 26 years since the elder of the legendary Williams sisters first played Wimbledon. She’s 43 now, and she said she could even play until she’s 50.

(Detroit, MI) — For the first time since 2019 Rickie Fowler is celebrating a victory on the PGA TOUR. Fowler took down Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin in a playoff to win the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club. All three players finished the final round of the tournament 24 under par to force the one-hole playoff. Three players tied for fourth place. Taylor Moore, Peter Kuest and Lucas Glover each ended the tournament 21 under par. Defending champion Tony Finau did not make the cut.

(Chicago, IL) — A NASCAR Cup Series’ of firsts happened in Chicago on Sunday. Shane Van Gisbergen won the Grant Park 220 in his first career Cup Series start in NASCAR’s inaugural street race. The driver of the number-91 car led the field on a restart to capture the victory in overtime. Justin Haley, Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and Kyle Busch rounded out the top-five finishers. Last weekend’s Ally 400 winner Ross Chastain finished 22nd. The racers head to Atlanta Motor Speedway next weekend for the Quaker State 400.

(Memphis, TN) — The Grizzlies have been active at the start of NBA free agency. The Athletic reports Derrick Rose has signed a two-year, 6.5-million-dollar deal to join Memphis. The three-time All-Star averaged just over five-and-a-half points in 27 games with the Knicks last season. The team also re-signed Desmond Bane to a five-year max contract worth 207-million-dollars. Meanwhile, ESPN reports Dillon Brooks agreed to a four-year, 80-million-dollar deal with the Rockets.

(Nashville, TN) — The hockey team is also keeping busy during free agency. The Predators signed defenseman Luke Schenn to a three-year deal worth just over eight-million-dollars and center Ryan O’Reilly to a four-year, 18-million-dollar contract. Nashville also inked forward Gustav Nyquist to a two-year deal and re-signed Cody Glass for two more years. The team also agreed to a buy out with Matt Duchene, who had three years left on his contract. The center signed a one-year deal with the Stars.
