Storms rolled through western Kentucky Friday afternoon and evening, causing scattered power outages and downed trees.
Some storms generated hail and high-speed winds, there were numerous trees and wires down across Hopkinsville and Christian County, particularly in north Christian County in the Crofton area.
In Todd County, Emergency Management Director Daniel Smith reported a few power outages and trees down, and the story was similar in Trigg County, with Emergency Management Director David Bryant they had reports of a free trees blown over by wind.
Pennyrile Electric reported roughly 5,000 members without power at one point, but work was already underway to get the lights back on—Hopkinsville Electric System also had crews out, repairing down wires across the city.
The risk of severe weather continues into Saturday, with the bulk of western Kentucky under an enhanced risk for severe storms, with many of the same risks possible—damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall.
