(Omaha, NE) — The 2023 Men’s College World Series champion will be crowned on Monday night. The second-seeded Florida Gators crushed the fifth-seeded LSU Tigers 24-4 in Game Two of the College World Series championship. Wyatt Langford hit one home run and drove-in a game-high six runs, while Jac Caglianone and Ty Evans both homered twice and totaled five RBI. The 24 runs scored were a MCWS record for a single game. LSU starter Nate Ackenhausen was charged the loss after letting the Tigers fall behind early. LSU and Florida will meet at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha on Monday night for the decisive Game Three.

(Morgantown, WV) — West Virginia is naming an interim head coach for its men’s college basketball team. The school announced on Saturday that Josh Eilert will take over the lead role following Bob Huggins’ resignation last week. Eilert served as an assistant under Huggins last season and has been with the Mountaineers since 2007. Athletic Director Wren Baker said the school will conduct a national search for a permanent head coach at the end of next season. Huggins resigned from the position following a DUI arrest in Pittsburgh last weekend. Police say the 69-year-old registered a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit.

(Uncasville, CT) — Alyssa Thomas is already setting records early into the WNBA season. The Connecticut Sun forward set a league record with her fourth triple-double of the season on Sunday. Thomas posted 14 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists in the Sun’s 96-72 victory over the Chicago Sky. The 31-year-old had also posted a triple-double in last Tuesday’s win over the Seattle Storm. That was the shortest time between triple-doubles by one player in WNBA history.

(New York, NY) — Brittney Griner has been named a starter for the WNBA’s upcoming All-Star Game. The league made the announcement Sunday, giving Griner the ninth All-Star nod of her career. That includes last year when she was named an honorary All-Star by the WNBA. Griner missed all of the 2022 season as she spent nearly 300 days in Russian custody. She was released back in December as part of a prisoner exchange. Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson and New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart were each named team captains. The WNBA All-Star Game is set for July 15th in Las Vegas.

(Las Vegas, NV) — A star player on the Las Vegas Raiders is avoiding legal trouble. An assault charge against Davante Adams has been dropped. The Kansas City Star reports a prosecutor dismissed the misdemeanor charge stemming from a Monday Night Football game against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The receiver was seen shoving photographer Ryan Zebley following the 30-29 loss on October 10th. Court documents say Zebley suffered whiplash, a headache and a “possible minor concussion” following the incident. The former Green Bay Packers pass catcher apologized for his actions and said frustration got the best of him. A civil case is still pending.

(Cromwell, CT) — Keegan Bradley is celebrating a victory after finishing atop the leaderboard at the 2023 Travelers Championship. Bradley shot a 68 in the final round of the tournament to finish 23 under par. The 37-year-old now has six career PGA TOUR titles. Brain Harman and Zac Blair tied for second after finishing 20 under par. Patrick Cantlay, Chez Reavie and Scottie Scheffler finished tied for fourth place at 19 under. Defending champion Xander Schauffele tied for 19th at 14 under par.
>>Ross Chastain Wins Ally 400
(Gladeville, TN) — Ross Chastain swapped his ball cap for a cowboy hat following an Ally 400 victory at Nashville Superspeedway. The driver of the number-1 car earned his first NASCAR Cup Series win of the season while Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson rounded out the top five finishers. Chastain led the final 30 laps to secure the win. Ryan Blaney did not finish the race following a hard crash into the inside barrier. He says it was, “The hardest hit he’s ever had in his life.” The field turns its attention to the Grant Park 220 next weekend for Chicago’s first ever street race.
