There will be daily isolated thunderstorm and rain chances through the rest of the week, but any rain that does fall likely won’t help much with drought conditions.
On a weather call Monday morning, Andy Lesage with National Weather Service in Paducah says there is a low-pressure system trailing through the area, and it brings with it the chances for pop-up thunderstorms, though they’re not expecting any severe weather at this time.
He says there could be some breezy wind starting Wednesday, but any rain that falls likely won’t provided much relief from dry conditions.
The region as a whole is listed as ‘abnormally dry’, with some parts of Missouri and Illinois entering proper drought designation.
There could be more chances of rain heading into the weekend and into next week, with temperatures in the 90’s likely.
