Resolution still possible for North Elm Street shooting suspect

A possible resolution remains on the table for Marshawn Taylor, the suspect accused of shooting a woman in May of 2021 on North Elm Street.

Appearing in Christian Circuit Court Monday morning, defense attorney David Rye says he believes they are close to resolving the case, he just needs a little more time to hammer out the details so Judge Andrew Self set another date for July 17.

Taylor allegedly shot 27-year old Marka Smith of Owensboro in the wrist and hip while she was sitting in a vehicle in the 100 block of North Elm in May of 2021. He’s charged with assault in the first-degree, first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
