Bluegrass Splash off to a strong start this season

The Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department spoke with the Rotary Club of Hopkinsville Tuesday and says things are rocking and rolling with their facilities.

Superintendent Toby Hudson says Bluegrass Splash—formerly known as Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center—is already off to a great start this season, even with a temporary closure for a busted pipe.  He says they’re averaging more visitors to the park than they were during the last season it was open.

He says the Jennie Stuart Health-Planters Bank Sportsplex also stays pretty busy, with frequent events and camps that keep people in and out.

Superintendent Tab Brockman is set to retire come September, and Hudson says they hope to make that transition as smooth as possible, while working to get all staff positions filled.

The Parks and Recreation has a full slate of events planned for the summer, from Movies in the Park to the return of the Summer Salute Festival, this year with two headline musical acts.  To stay up-to-date with ongoings, visit the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department on Facebook.
