(Foxborough, MA) — The Patriots are moving on from a promising running back. The team announced on Monday that James Robinson has been released. The 24-year-old signed a two-year deal in the offseason which had a base value of four-million-dollars. However, none of the money was guaranteed. Robinson impressed as an undrafted free agent in 2020 when he ran for over 1,000 yards and had 10 total touchdowns with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The back tore an Achilles the following season and was traded to the Jets last year.

(Foxboro, MA) — The Patriots began mandatory minicamp with one notable absence. According to ESPN, defensive tackle Lawrence Guy did not report on Monday for the initial portion of minicamp. Guy is entering his 13th NFL season, seventh with the Patriots, and signed a four-year contract in March 2021 with a base value of 11.5-million-dollars and a maximum value of 24-million-dollars. The 33-year-old has since changed agents and is believed to be looking for an adjustment to the contract. Head coach Bill Belichick said the team was “working through a couple things” when asked if any absences were excused. Players who don’t report for mandatory minicamp can be fined up to 98,753-dollars.

(Daytona Beach, FL) — The Jaguars are potentially trading in turf for track. Team officials say Daytona International Speedway could be a temporary home for Jacksonville as renovations begin at TIAA Bank Field. Speedway president Frank Kelleher told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that representatives will meet soon to discuss the proposal. Owner Shad Khan is finalizing a two-billion-dollar renovation project at Jacksonville’s current stadium which would take two years to finish. The team hopes to strike a deal for a temporary home by next March so construction can begin at TIAA Field after the 2025 season.
