Western Kentucky has been starved for rain and Sunday’s showers likely didn’t do enough to help the area much as we approach drought status.
The Kentucky Mesonet shows Christian County’s site just north of Hopkinsville received a tenth of an inch of rain Sunday, the site just north of Cadiz got just under a tenth and Todd County’s site between Trenton and Elkton got about four-tenths of an inch of rain.
Meteorologist Rachel Trevino with the National Weather Service in Paducah said during Monday’s weekly conference call that while any rain was welcome, showers were very scattered in nature.
After a cool start to the week, it will warm into the 90’s by Thursday and there are some chances for rain by the weekend—but it won’t be a washout.
The long-range outlook is showing next week to be warmer and wetter than normal.
There is currently no mention of severe weather in the next few days in the forecast.
