The Christian County Ag. Extension Office will be hosting their Home and Garden Open Show at the Western Kentucky State Fair and registration is open now.
Anita Cummins is a Certified Master Clothing Volunteer with the Ag. Extension Office and says the open show really highlights the talent of local makers and gardeners, while educating the public on how to recycle materials. She says it is called ‘upcycling’, and it helps revitalize materials into something new and keeps items out of landfills.
There will be a new category in the Open Show for upcycled items, and she says people can get very creative.
Cummins says the deadline to register to take part in the show is June 20 and that can be done online this year in a simple process.
No walk-ins will be accepted this year. Categories range widely for the event from cooking and canning, to quilting and knitting and crochet, painting, upcycled art pieces, leather working, photography, flowers and much, much more.
Entries should be brought to the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on June 27. For more information, contact the Christian County Ag. Extension Office at 270-886-6328.
