Sen. McConnell urges bipartisan cooperation to get farm bill passed

Congress has to pass a farm bill this year and U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is urging bipartisan cooperation to make it happen quickly.

Speaking on the Senate Floor Thursday, McConnell said the farm bill sets Ag. policy and helps ensure farmers are able to meet American’s food supply demands.

He noted Kentucky’s substantial role in the country’s agriculture industry and says farming has become more difficult.

Senator McConnell urged members of congress to act in the same bipartisan manner they did to raise the debt ceiling to find a compromise on the farm bill.

In addition to Ag. policy, the farm bill also includes policy on SNAP benefits and other programs that provide food to low-income families.
