Hoppers fall to the Railroaders after late-inning runs

The Fulton Railroaders traveled to Colonel Field on Wednesday night and beat the Hoptown Hoppers 3-1 in a ballgame that lasted just under two hours.

The Hoppers drew first blood after scoring a run in the first inning after a single from Dom Oliverio drove in John Keibler to score.

The Railroaders then proceeded to score in the 2nd after a wild pitch from starter Cody Jones.

The game then went scoreless for six innings after multiple pitchers for the Hoppers were put on the field in a staggering attack.

Franciso Paradis, Myles Green, John Girard, and Chase Gruno all saw time on the mound for at least an inning, and together allowed 6 hits and struck out 12.

As the game moved along quickly and appeared to possibly go to extra innings, two runs scored in the top of the 9th for the Railroaders, after an error and a passed ball brought the baserunners to home plate.

The Hoppers then failed to put any runners on base in the bottom of the ninth which gave them their second straight loss and a 1-5 record.

The team moves toward a chance at revenge against the Railroaders as they will meet again at 6:30 PM inside Colonel Field on Friday, June 9.
