Bluegrass Splash closed at least two days for repairs

Hopkinsville’s water park, Bluegrass Splash, is closed through at least Friday to make repairs.

A news release says it’s due to a broken filtration system pipe in the pool pump house. Public Works staff members were in the pump room backwashing the pool Thursday morning when the line failed. The city has contacted a pool repair specialty company to quickly address and repair the break.

Officials say the pipe that failed is totally separate from the repairs made beneath the pool floor over the last year. The filtration line that failed is a six-inch supply line that is visible in the pump house, which makes the repair simpler and dependent on how quickly the repair specialists can arrive.

Parks and Recreation Superintendent Toby Hudson says, “Bluegrass Splash is off to a tremendous start this season and we will do all we can to get the park back up and running quickly. Our team members were in the pump house when the pipe failed and fortunately were not hurt when this occurred. With the pipes being visible and easily accessible we anticipate a quick repair once the pool specialist company arrives.”

Parks and Rec officials will update the Bluegrass Splash re-opening status on Friday afternoon and locals are urged to follow their Facebook page.
