Hopkinsville City Council approves budgets, appointment of new city clerk

Hopkinsville City Council on Tuesday night approved first reading of its operational and capital budgets and appointed a new city clerk to replace the retiring Chrissy Fletcher.

The $48 million operational budget doesn’t include any anticipated increased tax rates and passed the council unanimously without discussion, as did the $2 million capital budget.

Brittany Bynum was appointed as the new city clerk, with Fletcher reading the executive order.

In other action, council approved an amended compensation plan that calls for shift differential pay for some positions.
