>>Torey Lovullo Inks One-Year Extension With Arizona

 

(Phoenix, AZ)  — The Diamondbacks are keeping their longtime manager in town.  Torey Lovullo [[ luh-VEL-oh ]] signed a one-year extension with Arizona through the 2024 season.  The deal marks the third straight year that Lovullo has signed a one-year extension.  Lovullo is the longest-tenured manager in team history.  The 57-year-old skipper has led the D-Backs to a combined 446-and-483 record during his time with the team.  Arizona is currently third in the National League with at 35-and-25.

 

>>Yankees Beat Dodgers To Win Series

 

(Los Angeles, CA)  — Oswaldo Cabrera drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Yankees topped the Dodgers 4-1 in Los Angeles.  Cabrera broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth and rookie Anthony Volpe mashed a two-run home run in the ninth.  Clay Holmes collected his fourth win in relief, while Wandy Peralta notched his fourth save.  New York has won two straight to improve to 36-and-25.  Evan Phillips suffered the loss in relief for Los Angeles, which fell to 35-and-25.  J.D. Martinez hit his 14th home run of the season in the losing effort.

 

>>Cardinals Get Swept By Pirates

 

(Pittsburgh, PA)  — The Cardinals are back on the bottom of the NL Central following a 2-1 loss to the Pirates in Pittsburgh.  Miles Mikolas gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning, and St. Louis trailed the rest of the way.  Andrew Knizner homered in the top of the seventh, but that was the Cardinals only run of the day.  Mikolas was charged with his second loss after surrendering the two first-inning runs in five innings of work.  St. Louis dropped to 25-and-35.  Adam Wainwright goes for the Cardinals against Texas tonight.

 

>>Reds Fall To Brewers For Fourth Straight Loss

 

(Cincinnati, OH)  — The Reds are on a losing streak following a 5-1 defeat to the Brewers in Milwaukee.  Ben Lively got the loss after surrendering five runs on six hits over seven innings.  Jake Fraley slugged a solo shot for Cincy, which has lost four games in a row.  The Reds are 26-and-33 and are fourth in the NL Central.  Cincinnati will try to salvage the four-game series tonight.  Andrew Abbott gets his first start of the season while Milwaukee counters with Julio Teheran.
