Officials have released additional information on ATV and UTV accidents from Memorial Day in Marshall County that killed two people.
Coroner Kenny Pratt says 30-year old Luis Benitez of Mayfield died in a four-wheeler accident at Soldier Creek and a 51-year old man from Mayfield was killed in a UTV accident on Harrison Road, with his name not released.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says Benitez had been attempting to climb an embankment at about 2:45 p.m. when the ATV overturned onto him and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the incident.
Both victims were taken to the Western Kentucky Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville for autopsy.
