>>Report: Jimmy Garoppolo Recovering From Foot Surgery

 

(Henderson, NV)  — The Las Vegas Raiders new starting quarterback is recovering from offseason surgery.  ESPN reports that Jimmy Garoppolo underwent surgery on his injured left foot after signing his deal with Las Vegas in March.  Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said that Garoppolo is “going through his process” and that “nothing has happened that would surprise” the team based on information they had.  The 31-year-old signal caller was injured in Week 13 of last season while playing for the San Francisco 49ers.

 

>>McCarthy Alters Cowboys’ OTAs To Avoid Another Penalty

 

(Frisco, TX)  — Mike McCarthy is looking to avoid a fine for his coaching style during Organized Team Activities.  The head coach of the Dallas Cowboys was fined in 2021 and 2022 for what the NFL deemed as “too much contact in the offseason practices that are conducted without pads.”  McCarthy said that Cowboys practices this spring “are basically walk throughs and jog throughs” while also noting that Dallas “won’t have a competitive 11-on-11 drill here probably ever again in the offseason.”  A third violation of the rules could potentially lead to the team losing a draft pick.

 

>>Titans Wrap Up First Week Of OTAs

 

(Nashville, TN)  — The Titans wrapped up their first week of Organized Team Activities.  Tennessee closed out its first week of OTAs on Thursday after starting workouts earlier this week.  The Titans will continue workouts over the next two weeks leading up to the team’s mandatory minicamp in June.  Their next OTA session is scheduled for Tuesday.  In other news, the team has agreed to terms with running back Tyjae Spears on a rookie contract.  Spears was selected in the third round of last month’s NFL Draft out of Tulane.

 

>>Patriots Lose Two OTAs After Coaches’ Error

 

(Foxboro, MA)  — The Patriots are paying the price for making a careless mistake.  New England is losing two days of organized team activities because of a scheduling mistake that resulted in players spending more than their allowed time at the team facility.  The NFL has also fined head coach Bill Belichick 50-thousand dollars.  The NFL Players Association had filed a formal complaint against the Pats on May 4th, alleging a violation of the collective bargaining agreement.  Players are allowed at the team facility no more than four hours per day during the second phase of the voluntary offseason program.  The Patriots response to the league was that the meetings were not mandatory and no attendance was taken.

 

>>Tony Jefferson Retires To Join Ravens Scouting Staff

 

(Owings Mills, MD)  — The Ravens are adding a former player to their football operations staff.  Veteran safety Tony Jefferson is retiring from the NFL to become a scout with Baltimore.  Jefferson will begin his scouting career this summer as part of the Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship.  The 31-year-old is coming off a season in which he started one of the nine games he played for the New York Giants.  He spent four seasons with the Ravens recording 174 tackles, two interceptions and 4.5 sacks for Baltimore.
